The Fashion & Textiles Design Foundation is an intensive year-long course teaching professional design methods through individual projects. The key steps which underpin this course are: Research, Design Development, Technical Skills, and Computer Design.

Work is assessed and refined through oral and visual presentations to participants’ peers and an international team of designers and industry professionals.

Research – Researching concepts through books, magazines, museum exhibitions, shops, and websites.

Design Development – Concept development through 3D draping, collaging, illustration, and textile sampling.

Technical Skills – Patternmaking, sewing, knitting, natural dyeing, beading, and technical drawing.

Computer Aided Design – Layout, drawing and image editing in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator programs.
